Dave Sweeney

Dave Sweeney has been an active member of Security-Net since joining as a partner in 2016 and brings to the organization extensive experience in sales, engineering and operations management.

As the general manager of Advantech, a division of The Cook & Boardman Group since July 2020, he is responsible for managing the overall business operations. He was previously chief executive officer of Advantech Inc. before it was acquired by The Cook & Boardman Group. He joined the company in 2007 as director of sales before becoming chief executive officer in 2014., He has also held the position of director of sales and chief operating officer. In addition to his experience in sales, engineering, operations management and business leadership at Advantech, Sweeney has a Level 4 certification in fire alarms from NICET. He has licensing in Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and the District of Columbia.

Sweeney has been on the Security-Net executive board for the past five years and has spent his 15-plus years at Advantech focused on evaluating and selecting the solutions that will help his clients not only immediately, but also several years into the future.

Under his leadership, Advantech has increased its security detection and controls; improved its door hardware offerings; and continued to build its managed services recurring revenue, an area where the company first began to focus well before most competitors almost 20 years ago.

Sweeney became involved in the security industry in large part because of a personal relationship with now-retired Advantech founder Eric Schaeffer, who was his lacrosse coach in high school. They stayed connected throughout Sweeney’s college days, when he went to Hofstra University, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in psychology in 2003.

During his personal time, Sweeney enjoys pottery, surfing, fitness and coaching his children’s youth sports teams.

Advantech has one office but plans to open two or three more in 2023. The security division of the company has about 70 employees.
